The GACE Paraprofessional Assessment (Test Code 349) is for prospective and practicing paraprofessionals and measures skills and knowledge in reading, math, and writing, as well as the ability to apply those skills and knowledge to assist in classroom instruction for public K-12 education.

Schedule & Payment

Candidates must register for the exam at the GACE Paraprofessional website.  Before creating an account, candidates must have a Georgia Professional Standards Commission (PSC) identification number.  If you do not have a PSC ID, create your MyPSC account first to obtain one.

Test Structure & Preparation

The test consists of 90 selected-response questions and is timed for 2 1/2 hours. The Testing Office will provide scratch paper and pencils. Remember to prepare for the exam by utilizing the materials on the GACE website.

You cannot retest within 30 days. 

You can view the unofficial score after testing. Scores are reported to the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC). Your official score report provides your passing status.

Who is this exam for?

Paraprofessionals serving in an instructional capacity is required by law to:

  • hold at least an associate of arts degree, or
  • have completed two years of college coursework (60 semester hours), or
  • demonstrated through a state or local academic assessment that they are knowledgeable in reading, writing, and math and are capable of assisting in classroom instruction.

Testing Requirements

You must bring valid identification (unexpired), original, and include your full legal name, a recent photo, and your signature.
