Campus Recreation & Intramurals offers adaptive services designed to support patrons with special needs and those recovering from injury. From accessible fitness equipment to inclusive intramural leagues and aquatic support, CRI is committed to providing a welcoming, inclusive environment for all Eagles.
Fitness: Adaptive Resistance Training
CRI provides adaptive weight equipment to meet a variety of physical needs. The Magnum Adaptive Weight Machineis strategically positioned in the fitness center to minimize foot traffic while allowing ample space for wheelchair maneuverability.
Adaptive Machine Features

In addition to this adaptive unit, other fitness machines can be modified to meet individual needs. Patrons are encouraged to transfer to the machine or a provided chair if comfortable. Support belts are available upon request.

Fitness: Adaptive Cardio Equipment
CRI offers two accessible cardio machines designed for inclusive fitness and rehabilitation:
PRO2 Total Body Ergometer
A total-body rehabilitation tool that includes both upper and lower body training.

- Wheelchair accessible with removable seat
- Adjustable, bariatric, and standard seating options
- Therapist assist pedal on adjustable seat
- Bi-directional movement
- Iso-Strength program for safe resistance
- Extremely low starting resistance
RST7000 – Recumbent Stepper
Ideal for wellness and therapy with flexible stride options.
- Easy-access design
- Orthopedic footbeds with safety edge and optional straps
- Dual-position handles to work different muscle groups
- Optional swivel seat and range limiters
- Bariatric seat option supports up to 600 pounds
- Therapist assist pedal

Additional Fitness Adaptation Demonstrations
CRI encourages adaptive use of a wide range of fitness equipment. Staff can assist patrons in modifying:

Personal Training
CRI’s certified personal trainers are available to work with patrons of all ability levels and can develop personalized fitness plans tailored to individual goals, needs, and mobility considerations.
Injury Prevention & Care (Athletic Training)
Athletic Trainers are available to assist all patrons in the use of rehabilitation equipment. Whether you’re recovering from an injury or managing a condition, our staff is here to help you train safely and effectively.
Intramural Sports: Wheelchair Basketball
CRI offers an intramural Wheelchair Basketball league open to both disabled and able-bodied participants. The league meets on Thursday evenings during the spring semester for a five-week season. All equipment is provided, and participants of all abilities are encouraged to join.
Southern Adventures: Inclusive Challenge Courses
Both the high and low challenge courses are adaptable for individuals with a wide range of abilities. Each experience is customized based on the participants’ goals, focusing on communication, trust, and teamwork.
Aquatics: Portable Chair Lift
A Portable Aquatic Lift is available for use in the Indoor and Outdoor pools. It can be relocated to any area of the pool for easy entry and exit. All aquatic staff members are trained to assist patrons using the lift.
