What does a Student Success Navigator do?

For new online students, Success Navigators provide personalized coaching and concierge support from enrollment to graduation. They guide you through college processes, help you overcome challenges, and connect you with essential resources, ensuring a streamlined and successful journey. You get the benefits of a dedicated coach and a personal concierge, all in one. Navigators will help you:

  • Unlock Resources: Navigators connect you to the university’s services, policies, and essential support tools.
  • Stay Engaged: Regular check-ins and proactive communication will keep you motivated and on course.

Success Navigator Madison Murphy.Madison MurphyMadison leads the Navigators as the Coordinator for Online Student Success with experience as an Academic Advisor, Educational Specialist, and Educational Programs Coordinator at GS. She has worked with various populations of students, including FOL learners, and has taught online FYE 1220. Madison has been at Georgia Southern since 2018 and is eager to support online students, aiming to create a smooth and enjoyable academic journey for them. Success Navigator Mike Adams.Mike AdamsMike, Navigator, has 7 years of experience working with students at GS. Before that, he worked for 9 years as a K12 Assistant Director for FOL, Supplemental Instruction, Curriculum Development, and Hospital Home Bound & Home Bound. He is excited to support FOL students because he understands the challenges of balancing work, family, and online education as a former non-traditional, online learner. Success Navigator Jessica Hollingsworth.Jessica HollingsworthJessica is a Navigator with experience as an Academic Advisor and Success Coach at GS. She has worked with students enrolled in online courses in both roles. Jessica has been working at GS since 2019 and is passionate about supporting students from diverse backgrounds. She is excited to connect with FOL students and provide them with guidance and support. Jessica also completed her Master’s and Educational Specialist degrees fully online and understands the challenges and triumphs of working adults pursuing academic goals.jhollingsworth@georgiasouthern.edu
Success Navigator Sarah Varnadoe.Sarah VarnadoeSarah is a Navigator who has supported FOL students as an education specialist at GS and has taught virtual K12 school for three years. She has been at Georgia Southern for over a year and is passionate about helping students using non-traditional pathways. Sarah has experience coaching and teaching students from a wide age range and enjoys addressing the needs of students in various situations.
