Sexual Assault Awareness Month
Georgia Southern University’s Sexual Assault Awareness Month is an annual campaign to raise public awareness about sexual assault and educate communities and individuals on how to prevent sexual violence.

Denim Day
Denim Day is an international event to raise awareness about sexual violence. Georgia Southern has recognized Denim Day since 2018 by promoting wearing denim and selling t-shirts. T-shirt sales benefit the local rape crisis centers; Mary’s Place Prevention, Advocacy and Sexual Assault Center of the Costal Empire and The Teal House: Statesboro Regional and Sexual Assault Center of the Costal Empire.

Student Wellness and Health Promotion, in partnership with the University Bookstore is hosting an art design contest. Students can submit a design for the Denim Day T-shirt.
The contest is open to all currently enrolled Georgia Southern University students and East Georgia State students. Designs from students of all majors, backgrounds, and abilities are welcomed.
- Students are allowed to submit two different submissions or designs
- Designs will be used on a denim color shirt
- Submissions must include a full design on the back of shirt and a pocket design on the front of the shirt (two separate images)
- Designs must be limited to two colors
- Submissions will need to include CMYK “color” values for the graphics
We are not currently accepting designs.
Designs should be submitted using this google form. All students are allowed to submit two separate submissions.
Submissions will be judged by Student Wellness and Health Promotion staff members, members of the Sexual Response Team, and other campus partners. All submissions will be scored using a scoring rubric based on the following three categories out of a total possible 100 points.

- Aesthetic qualities [10 Points]
- Creativity and originality [10 Points]
Design submissions closed on March 10th. The 2025 winner is announced above.
The winner’s design will be the feature of the Denim Day t-shirt. The winner will work directly with SWHP and the University bookstore for final order submission. The winner will receive a certificate, free t-shirt, be honored on social media/ in any other publicity related to the design, and will receive a certificate and letter of acknowledgement.
All submissions not selected may be considered for any future Denim Day t-shirt designs. Upon submission of design, students will be asked to release any and all rights to the design to Student Wellness and Health Promotion.
