Although international travel may seem daunting, we provide our students with all the resources they need to make the most of their time in Ireland.
Passport Reminders
- Students must have a valid passport to fly to and enter Ireland. The same applies to flying back and reentering the United States. Students who do not have—or need to renew—a passport should apply immediately given the lengthy processing time. If you are a US citizen, be sure to use an official Department of State website.
- US citizens do not currently require a visa to visit and/or study in Ireland as long as the trip lasts fewer than 90 days.
- Your passport’s expiration date should be at least six months after your scheduled return date.
- If you are not a US citizen, you may likely still travel to Ireland with us. As soon as possible, email irish@georgiasouthern.edu with the subject line, “Wexford Campus: Non-US Passport Inquiry.”
Flying to Ireland
Our Wexford programs include round-trip air travel in the cost.In each direction, your reservation/ticket includes one free checked suitcase, one free carry-on luggage item, and one free carry-on personal item. Label all your luggage with your name, phone number, email address, and home address.
It is absolutely critical that you pack all medicines (for the entire trip) in either your carry-on luggage item or carry-on personal item, not your checked suitcase. Well in advance of departure, coordinate with your pharmacy to ensure that you have a sufficient supply of prescription medicines to last the length of the trip, plus an additional week (in case of a delayed return).
Upon deplaning at Dublin Airport, wait in the main corridor until all members of the Georgia Southern group have assembled. Everyone will go through immigration as a group, and all students will be given an official Georgia Southern letter confirming the location, duration, and purpose of the trip.
