Academic Support Services

We believe that academic success and a supportive community are essential components of a fulfilling recovery journey. We’re here to empower you to achieve your goals and build a brighter future. We offer you:

Admission Assistance

From the earliest stages of the application process, our staff is dedicated to helping you navigate your path to Georgia Southern. We recognize that past legal trouble may have impacted your academic journey, and we may be able to help, especially for those with a demonstrated track record of commitment to recovery.

Georgia Southern and the City of Statesboro offer a vibrant recovery community, a low cost of living, and a small-town environment. We can also help students with prior academic issues due to SUD (substance use disorder) enroll in University College to raise their GPA before applying to Georgia Southern.

Early Registration

Registering for classes each semester can be complex, competitive, and time-consuming. We alleviate the stress of class registration by offering early access, allowing you to meet your academic goals and manage your busy schedule while prioritizing your recovery.

Individualized Academic Advising and Semester Planning

Beyond the general academic advising in your college and major, True Blue Recovery supports students in selecting courses that align with their personal goals and recovery strategies.

John & Dot Mooney Foundation Student Financial Awards

Thanks to the generosity of the John and Dot Mooney Foundation, we offer scholarships to students who demonstrate academic excellence, commitment to recovery, and financial need. The foundation has donated over $100,000 for student scholarships since CAR’s inception in 2008.

Community Support

Whether you’re in recovery, exploring sobriety, or supporting a friend, True Blue Recovery is a welcoming environment where you can connect, recharge, study, and have fun. We have dedicated campus space in Veazey Hall that is the perfect spot to grab coffee, relax and meet others traveling a similar journey.

Community

At CAR, we believe that academic success and a supportive community are essential components of a fulfilling recovery journey. We’re here to empower you to achieve your goals and build a brighter future.
