Freshman students are required to attend a SOAR session prior to enrolling in classes*. SOAR sessions are led by current Georgia Southern students who are great resources to answer your questions and show you what it means to be a Georgia Southern student! You will also be able to meet with an academic advisor, who will advise you on which classes have been selected for your first semester.
*Readmit, transient, auditor, and post-baccalaureate students do not have a SOAR requirement.
SOAR Reservation Process
- Login into your Admissions Status Portal. Enter your email address and the password you used to apply to Georgia Southern.
- Click View Your Status Update and commit to Georgia Southern. This will redirect you to our Enrollment Portal, where you will register for SOAR.
- Click Register for SOAR then Register Now. A list of available SOAR sessions based on your student type and campus will display.
- Select a date and complete your registration. Please note that your registration will not be complete until you click Submit and a valid payment goes through.
- After you register for SOAR, you will gain access to your Advising Questionnaire. Your advisor will use your responses in this form to build your class schedule for your first semester.

Changing Your SOAR Reservation
Students are able to edit their SOAR registration within the same term through their Enrollment Status Portal. Click Visit Your Event Registration and edit your selections.
If a student updates their admissions term, they can transfer their SOAR fee to their new term. This is only available for updates within two academic terms of the original session. For example, a student registered for a Spring 2026 SOAR session can transfer their fee to a Summer 2026 session or a Fall 2026 session. No partial refunds will be given if the new session is at a lesser cost. If a student would like to request to have their SOAR fee transferred to a new term they must email our office at orientation@georgiasouthern.edu prior to registering for the new term.
Canceling Your SOAR Reservation / SOAR Refund Policy
All SOAR registration fees are non-refundable. No refunds will be given to students who decide not to attend Georgia Southern after registering for SOAR.
Guest fees are also non-refundable. Students may transfer their guest registration fee to another person if a previously registered guest is unable to attend.
Refunds will also not be given to students who change a previously scheduled SOAR session to a session of a lesser cost.
