Imagine a flock of larger-than-life 6′ x 5′ x 4” fiberglass eagle sculptures – designed and created by artists while made possible by our supporters– on long-term public display for viewing and interactive events. Though the form of each sculpture will remain the same, each eagle will have a unique design. Designed by Georgia Southern sculpture professor Marc Moulton, the fiberglass eagle form is in landing position, perched on a chiseled rock.

Georgia Southern University’s Victory Eagle

Georgia Southern’s Victory Eagle represents both school spirit and patriotism. With vibrant red, blues and yellows, we have no doubt that this eagle will make Statesboro Proud.
This eagle was designed by Rose Mae Bogan Millikan and created by Kristina B. Hall.
Meet the Artist

Kristina B. Hall was born in Albany, Georgia. She obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Georgia Southwestern University while restoring decorative finishes in many historic landmarks for Evergreen: Architectural Arts. Kristina obtained a Master of Fine Arts from Georgia Southern University. She currently resides in Dalton, Georgia.

Legacy of Lumber

Four generations of Howards have worked in the lumber industry processing long leaf, yellow pines in Bulloch County since 1898. The “Legacy of Lumber” eagle is a tribute to the family’s heritage and reflects the evolution of their business—from a small, man-powered sawmill to a technologically advanced, full-line manufacturer and distributor of lumber products in the city of Statesboro.
Meet the Artists

Courtney Ryan, of Columbus, Ga., is a Master of Fine Arts student studying ceramics at Georgia Southern. She earned her B.F.A. in sculpture and ceramics at Columbus State University. Currently, Courtney is working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Georgia Southern.

Jessamy McManus, of Lilburn, Ga., is a Master of Fine Arts student studying painting at Georgia Southern, where she also earned her B.F.A. in 2D Studio Art. She currently is working as the Gallery Assistant in the University’s Center for Art and Theatre.

Hope
Location: East Georgia Regional Medical Center

The Hope eagle was designed to represent the fight against cancer and was inspired by Relay for Life. Luminaria bags drift up the wings like paper lanterns and feature the names of local residents who have struggled with the disease.
Meet the Artist
Daniel Todd was born on the Navajo Reservation in Tuba City, Ariz., in 1985. His mother joined the ARMY while he was young and he spent his youth traveling the world. He received his B.F.A. with an emphasis in ceramics at Georgia Southern.

Pursuit of Knowledge

Influenced by the eternity of books, Pursuit of Knowledge celebrates the everlasting nature of knowledge and emphasizes the eagle’s pending action of flight within the passing of time.
Meet the Artist

Rebecca Hampton was born in Jacksonville, Florida. She attended the Savannah Arts Academy and recently graduated cum laude with a degree in Painting from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Rebecca resides in Hinesville, Georgia, and works as a freelance artist.

Meet the Artist

Greg Carter was born in Athens, Georgia. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a dual major in painting and printmaking from Atlanta College of Art. Greg obtained a Master of Fine Arts from Rutgers University. Greg is co-owner of Gallery 33 West, sole proprietor of Carter Fine Arts, and resides in Statesboro, Georgia, with his wife, daughter, and son.

Farmer’s Market

Farmer’s Market was inspired by Bulloch County’s impressive quality of local produce and agriculture. This colorful eagle is decorated with heirloom tomatoes, squash, sunflowers and more. It is sure to make your mouth water!

Colleen Beyer was born in Rome, Georgia. She received a Bachelor of Fine Art from the University of West Georgia and a Master of Fine Arts from Georgia Southern University. Colleen resides in Rome, working as a studio artist while pursuing her goal of becoming an art educator.

Wesley Stewart was born in Augusta, Georgia. He obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Augusta State University, while working at his family’s business, Stewart Sheet Metal. Stewart received his Master of Fine Arts at Georgia Southern University.

Statesboro Nation

The first eagle to be completed in the Eagle Nation in Education program, Statesboro Nation represents the essence of the local community. With the stars and stripes of the American flag and representations of the beloved local courthouse and Averitt Center, this eagle’s wing says it all: “We are Statesboro!”
Meet the Artist

Kelsey Fallin was a seventh-grader at William James Middle School when she won the Eagle Nation in Education challenge in 2012-13. A dancer with the Gail Hursey School of Dance, Kelsey excels in both performance and fine art. Kelsey and her parents Debra and Matt Fallin reside in Statesboro.
This eagle was completed with assistance from Master of Fine Arts Candidate Janet Suarez.

Meet the Artist

A native of Savannah, Scott Foxx moved to Statesboro three years ago to pursue a Master of Fine Arts degree at Georgia Southern. The son of two teachers, one an artist in his own right, Foxx’s aspiration is to teach art on the college level. Foxx examines art with an eye to embracing history and its affect on the present through a contemporary style emulating such folk artists as Willie Tarver, Mose Tolliver and Bob Thompson.

Virginia

Named after the late Virginia Sabb Jackson, who worked in Eagle Dining Services at the former Landrum dining hall for many years. The placement of the 6′ x 5′ x 4’ fiberglass sculpture at Texas Roadhouse honors the restaurant’s managing partner and local owner Maurice Jackson, Virginia Jackson’s son.
