Honoring Freedom
Freedom arrived at Georgia Southern University in 2004 after sustaining a permanent beak injury as a nestling that made survival in the wild impossible. He found a lifelong home at the Center for Wildlife Education in Statesboro, where he lived among fellow raptors and a variety of native species. For nearly two decades, Freedom served as a powerful symbol of pride and perseverance—soaring above football games, appearing at graduations and community events, and inspiring thousands through his presence and the mission of the Wildlife Center.
