Georgia Southern hires new director of EAGLE Academy, open house with meet and greet and information sessions on Nov. 19
Julie Pickens, Ph.D., is the new director of the EAGLE Academy, the Inclusive Post-Secondary Education Program at Georgia Southern University. The EAGLE Academy will host a meet and greet with Pickens and program volunteers on Tuesday, Nov. 19, in the College of Education, room 3156, on the Statesboro Campus, from 6 to 8 p.m. The event will also serve as an open house with information sessions at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m.

Armstrong Campus Chorale and Vocal Chamber Ensemble perform at 28th annual Memorial Concert
The Georgia Southern Armstrong Campus Chorale and Vocal Chamber Ensemble will perform at the J. Harry Persse Memorial Concert on Nov. 10 at 3 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The concert is held annually to celebrate the legacy of former Armstrong Campus faculty member J. Harry Persse, Ph.D., who was a Savannah musician, composer and educator. Tickets for the performance are free, and donations to the J. Harry Persse Music Scholarship Fund will be accepted.

Georgia Southern junior Mackenzie Miller aspires to one day own a business in fashion, and she found the Fashion Merchandising and Apparel Design program to be the perfect fit to help her achieve that goal. Miller has gained a lot of experience in the program, which was recently named the eighth best fashion design school in the south by Fashion Schools.

Multidisciplinary artist tackles socio-political issues with ancient, contemporary media on Statesboro Campus
Multidisciplinary artist Raheleh Filsoofi, who is based in Texas, South Florida and Iran, will share works that explore global, socio-political issues through a personal lens with a blend of ancient and contemporary media such as ceramics, poetry, ambient sound and video in her exhibition, “Overview Effect.” The exhibit is currently on view through Dec. 6 in the Contemporary Gallery at the Center for Art & Theatre on Georgia Southern University’s Statesboro Campus.
Georgia Southern hosts Food for Fines, parking citations waived with food donations
