City Campus Plans for Another BIG Global Entrepreneurship Week

The Georgia Southern University Business Innovation Group (BIG) will participate in “Global Entrepreneurship Week,” Nov. 17-22. Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), a Kauffman Foundation initiative, is a worldwide celebration of the innovators and job creators that bring ideas to life.

Georgia Southern University’s online Master of Education in Higher Education Administration has been ranked number 10 on TheBestSchools.org, “25 Best Online Master in Higher Education Degree Programs.” The selection was based on several factors including academic excellence, course offerings, faculty strengths, and reputation.

OneGeorgia Authority Announces $500,000 Grant for Business Incubation and Workforce Development

The OneGeorgia Authority, a financial partner for economic development in Georgia, has announced its decision to grant a $500,000 OneGeorgia Equity Award for the advancement of workforce development in the Statesboro-Bulloch County region. The project, titled “Statesboro-Bulloch Regional Career and Workforce Initiative,” is a collaboration among Georgia Southern University, the Development Authority of Bulloch County and Ogeechee Technical College.

Georgia Southern University Brings the World to Statesboro for 9th Annual International Festival

Georgia Southern University will bring the world to Statesboro during the 9th Annual International Festival on Saturday, Nov. 15 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Mill Creek Regional Park, 888 Georgia Highway 24. The annual festival, hosted by the Center for International Studies, is a celebration of culture, music, art and food from around the world. Admission to the festival is free and open to everyone.

National Association of College & University Food Services Selects Georgia Southern University Employee

Georgia Southern University’s Emily Arrington, assistant manager of Dining Commons, has been selected to participate in the 2014 Marketing Institute, from Dec. 2-6 in Atlanta. The Marketing Institute is one of eight professional development institutes shaped and coordinated by the National Association of College & University Food Services (NACUFS) and sponsored by Coca-Cola North America.

University to Host Renowned Author Richard Louv in Sustainability Seminar

The Georgia Southern University Center for Sustainability and the Recreation and Tourism Management Program will partner to host Richard Louv, acclaimed author and journalist, in a sustainability seminar titled “The Hybrid Mind,” on Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center, 847 Plant Drive. Louv is the author of eight books on the connections between family, nature and the community.

In honor of National Cyber Security Awareness Month, the University sat down with Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology Professor Adam Bossler who also studies why people hack into computers and commit cybercrimes. Bossler shares a few tips and tricks to prevent Internet hacking and cybercrime attacks.
