The Teacher Leadership Endorsement (TLE) Program is a 9-credit endorsement that prepares individuals to serve in leadership teaching roles in grades P-12. The program is designed to give participants a well-rounded introduction to key academic leadership techniques and theories with broad application in the classroom and among teaching peers.

What You’ll Learn

Students in the Teacher Leadership Endorsement program will learn the fundamentals of leadership and administration in an academic setting, including models and theories of leadership, strategies for motivation and change and methods of curriculum development and implementation. Courses include

The ISRC provides resources and professional development on instructional pedagogy while leveraging the use of innovative and emerging technologies in order to support teaching, learning, and student engagement.

Admission Requirements:

  • Applicants must complete requirements for a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Applicants must present a cumulative 2.75 (4.0 scale) grade point average or higher on all undergraduate and graduate work combined from an accredited college/university.
  • Applicants must possess an Induction (including one year of teaching experience) or Professional Level Four or higher certificate in a teaching, service or leadership field.
  • Applicants must submit a current resume or CV that demonstrates at least one year of teaching experience in a P-12 setting.
  • Applicants must acknowledge the disclosure and affirmation questions within the application that address misconduct disclosure, the Code of Ethics for Educators and tort liability insurance.


*International transcripts must be evaluated by a NACES accredited evaluation service and must be a course by course evaluation and include a GPA (naces.org).

Follow these steps to complete the Georgia Southern application: 

  • Create an application account.
  • Complete our online application using the PIN you received after creating your application account.
  • Pay the $50 application fee or upload a valid fee waiver once complete. Previous Georgia Southern applicants and dual-enrollment students do not need to pay the fee.
  • Check your application status at My.GeorgiaSouthern.edu/admissions three days after completing your application. This page contains live information about your admission status, including a checklist of missing documents we need to make a decision.

Transfer to Georgia Southern

Georgia Southern University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associates, baccalaureate, masters, educational specialists and doctorate degrees.

The College of Education anticipates that graduates of the Teacher Leader Endorsement will seek state licensure or certification. The program listed above leads to a Georgia Certificate Upgrade only. Visit the Georgia Professional Standards Commission for more information.
