John Egan, Ed.D., spent his undergraduate and graduate academic career pursuing degrees in sports management. As an award-winning college pole vaulter, Egan wanted to continue his passion for sports, melding it into his career. Yet, when he began as an advisor in Georgia Southern’s Student-Athlete Services, which provides academic support and development to student-athletes, in 2012, Egan’s professional focus quickly shifted from sports management to students.

A conversation about mastodons will be the next iteration of the Georgia Southern University College of Science and Mathematics’ (COSM) lecture series, Science on Tap. Geology professor Kathlyn Smith, Ph.D., will present “Beast Coast vs. Best Coast: Chronicling the lives of North American mastodons” at Savannah Coffee Roasters on Feb. 18 at 6 p.m.

U.S. News & World Report recognizes Georgia Southern business programs
Georgia Southern University’s online programs in the Parker College of Business were recognized among the best in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, a recognized leader in college and graduate school rankings. The Parker College of Business’ online MBA tied for the 59th spot on the Best Online MBA Programs list and also tied for the 37th spot on the Best Online MBA Programs for Veterans list.
