Academic Success: We strive to cultivate intellectual growth and academic achievement by recruiting quality students, offering targeted educational programming, providing academic resources, and recognizing scholastic excellence.

Our office builds strong partnerships with inter/national headquarters, campus departments, parents, and families to ensure holistic student development and a meaningful Greek experience.
Civic Engagement: We are committed to serving our campus, local, and global communities through volunteer work, philanthropy, and advocacy. Our chapters are expected to model accountability, compassion, and responsible citizenship.

The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life offers a range of programs designed to foster leadership, education, service, and personal growth within our Greek community. These initiatives also strengthen connections with the broader campus and local communities in Statesboro and Savannah.
Trick-or-Treat on Greek Street: Our annual family-friendly Halloween event invites the Statesboro community to campus for candy, games, and safe trick-or-treating with our Greek organizations.
Join members of the Greek community for the annual Trick or Treat on Greek Street event. Members of the many Greek chapters on row will have their houses decorated and filled with candy, games, and family fun. Everyone is invited to come and trick or treat and enjoy fun events with us!
Council Executive Board Retreat: This retreat offers tailored leadership development, strategic planning, and team-building opportunities for the executive board members of each Greek council.
Fraternity and Sorority Ambassadors: Ambassadors serve as peer leaders who represent the Greek community and assist with events, recruitment, and outreach. It’s a great opportunity to build leadership skills and give back to the community.
Hazing Prevention & Education: A year-round effort to educate students and prevent hazing through awareness campaigns, resources, and mandatory training.
National Hazing Prevention Week: A campus-wide initiative held each fall to reinforce our commitment to a safe and positive Greek experience.
Fraternity & Sorority Life Excellence Awards: An annual recognition event that honors chapters, councils, and individuals who demonstrate excellence in leadership, scholarship, service, and brotherhood/sisterhood.
New Member Institutes: These workshops support the transition of new members into Greek Life by covering key topics such as leadership, values, and campus involvement.
Presidents Retreat: A leadership and strategy workshop specifically designed for chapter presidents to enhance their skills and promote effective chapter management.
Fraternity and Sorority Life programs are designed to empower students, strengthen chapter leadership, and connect the Greek community with the Georgia Southern campus and beyond.

In order to join a fraternity or sorority at Georgia Southern University, individuals must meet one of the following requirements:
As you’re looking at your membership options, please keep in mind that some chapters may have a higher GPA requirement for membership. This requirement applies to both the Statesboro and Armstrong. Below are some additional pieces of information regarding eligibility:
The Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life (FSL) staff includes four full-time professionals, four graduate assistants, and two student assistants that work directly with our students including advising our governing councils, providing strategic and administrative support to the community, and supporting chapter and council programming efforts. The office is a member of the Division of Student Affairs team and works collaboratively with other departments to support the success of students involved within the FSL community.
As advisors, we work with the governing councils and chapters in all areas of fraternity and sorority operations including membership education, leadership, community service, university involvement, finance, recruitment, scholarship, personal growth, and accountability. The staff consistently interact with council executive officers and delegates, members and chapter officers, advisors, alumni, parents, and inter/national organization volunteers and staff.
Our office is structured to encourage communication and combined effort between chapters and councils. Each member of our staff advises a governing council and has specific areas of chapter functions, as described below. Chapters should examine their area of need and seek out the staff member who is working with those areas for assistance.
