Fulford Learning Center

Where Community & Curiosity Meet

Nestled among the towering pines at the main entrance of the East Georgia Campus in Swainsboro, the Sudie A. Fulford Community Learning Center—known locally as The Fulford Center—opened its doors on May 1, 2010 as a signature educational resource for Emanuel County and the surrounding region.

The Center was made possible through a generous gift from Mr. and Mrs. A.D. “Pete” Correll to the East Georgia Foundation in honor of Mrs. Correll’s mother, Sudie A. Fulford.
A respected Emanuel County teacher and devoted community volunteer, Mrs. Fulford’s legacy continues through the Center’s educational outreach. As Mrs. Correll shared, “Not only does this building bear her name… her spirit and love of giving are deep within its walls.”

Since its opening, the Fulford Center has delivered a wide variety of innovative programs and services. Guided by its vision to serve as an educational and cultural hub, the Center offers planetarium shows, workshops, exhibitions, classes, and performances designed for learners of all ages. To date, countless individuals have enriched their lives through the opportunities available at the Center.

Foster strong community relationships to strengthen and serve the broader region.

Hospitality

Create a welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages positive interaction among students, educators, community members and the East Georgia Campus in Swainsboro faculty and staff.

Mrs. Sudie Akins Fulford

The Center was named in honor of Mrs. Sudie Akins Fulford, thanks to a heartfelt gift from A.D. “Pete” Correll to his wife, Ada Lee. Mrs. Fulford—affectionately known as “Miss Sudie”—was a beloved and highly respected Emanuel County teacher for more than 30 years. Her profound dedication to her students and her deep love for her family continue to shape the spirit and purpose of the Fulford Center today.
