Georgia Southern Football Program Featured in New “We Are the Champions” Exhibit at Georgia Sports Hall of Fame
The Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in Macon, Georgia recently unveiled its newest exhibit, We Are the Champions: Georgia’s College Football National Championship Teams. The exhibit highlights a handful of Georgia college football teams declared the best in the country. Georgia Southern University, with its six national titles, has made the list.
University to Participate in New USG Campus Safety and Security Committee
“The safety and well being of our students, our faculty and staff on our campuses is both a concern and a priority,” said Huckaby. “Looking ahead in the University System, as we work to be more student-focused in the academic performance of students, I have concluded that we must simultaneously sharpen our focus on campus safety and behavior.”
Moth Project to Attract ‘Second-Shift Pollinators’ on Campus

PBS Show TIME TEAM AMERICA Highlights Georgia Southern University at Camp Lawton Tonight
In 2012, the PBS show TIME TEAM AMERICA tracked the adventures of Georgia Southern University archeologist and students at Camp Lawton, a Civil War POW camp in Millen, Georgia as they uncovered buried secrets using the latest technology and decades of expertise. The episode will premiere tonight at 9 p.m. on PBS.
‘One More Time’ Recyclable Clothing to Make its On-campus Debut at ’Boro Browse and the Student Org Fair
The new on-campus recycling initiative, ‘One More Time’, with Renew Merchandise and the Center for Sustainability (CfS) will make its debut on campus at ’Boro Browse and the Student Org Fair, Aug. 26 and 27, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Russell Union Rotunda. Named one of the top green universities in the country by The Princeton Review for the past four years, Georgia Southern will deepen its commitment to sustainability even further through this partnership with Renew Merchandise.
Ogeechee River Public Information Session to Discuss Research on the River
Members from the Georgia Southern University Department’s of Biology, Geology and Geography, and the Phinizy Center for Water Sciences will hold a public information session on the Ogeechee River Monitoring and Research project on Tuesday, Aug. 26 at 6:30 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center.
The project comes after the November 2013 Consent Decree requiring King America Finishing Inc. to fund a Supplemental Environmental Project (SEP) proposed by the University titled “Assessment of Hydrological, Biological and Environmental Components of the Lower Ogeechee River Ecosystem.”
