Georgia Southern’s Curriculum and Pedagogy for Social Justice Graduate Certificate is a convenient way to enhance your education degree with a focus toward making a positive social impact. While working on your certificate, you will learn how to best reach student populations that have historically been underserved.
The courses in this certificate provide educators with the theoretical foundations, historical knowledge, practical experience and supportive infrastructure needed to become reflective practitioners who successfully integrate social justice education into their classrooms. Coursework specifically emphasizes how to design inclusive curriculum that effectively engages and supports diverse and multicultural students.
The certificate also provides educators with a high level of flexibility and convenience. The program of study is fully online, consists of six 3-credit hour graduate-level courses and can be completed in just one year. Students can elect to complete the certificate as a stand-alone program or in conjunction with a master’s degree.
Your education can also continue beyond the certificate. Educators who complete the certificate in good standing (GPA of at least 3.0) may be able to apply some of their course credit toward an Ed.D. in Curriculum Studies, Ed.D. in Educational Leadership, M.A.T. or M.Ed.

Take Action
The following are required for all applicants:
- Complete requirements for a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution or an equivalent at a recognized national or international university.
- Present a cumulative 3.0 (4.0 scale) grade point average or higher on all undergraduate and/or graduate coursework.
- Submit a personal statement of purpose, not to exceed 500 words, that identifies the applicant’s reasons for pursuing graduate study and how admission into the program relates to the applicant’s professional aspirations.
