Georgia Southern’s Online Teaching and Learning Endorsement prepares K-12 educators to teach in a virtual school environment. Candidates will continually be exposed to new and exciting technologies to enhance any learning environment they encounter now and in the future.
In this program, you will learn how to:
- Provide pedagogical skills and framework for teaching in virtual settings.
- Promote equal access to a broad range of curricula for K-12 students across the state.
- Meet the needs of diverse learners utilizing media strategies and instructional design practices.
- Navigate a hands-on learning experience within a virtual environment.
A key advantage of this program is that you will be able to experience both sides of the learning process—first as a student immersed in the online coursework of the endorsement and then as a teacher developing online instruction to fulfill the field experience requirement.
In this program, you will be continually exposed to new and exciting technologies to enhance any learning environment you encounter now and in the future. You and your cohort will explore how to apply learning theories as you design instruction and determine the best practices of teaching and learning to utilize within a K-12 virtual school.
This endorsement offers candidates a high level of flexibility. With only 9 credit hours that are fully online, the program can be completed quickly and in a manner that fits your schedule.

Students seeking to fulfill requirements for this endorsement must complete and submit a College of Education endorsement application through the Graduate Admissions Office. Both new students and students currently enrolled must complete an admission application to earn the endorsement.
The application and all required documents listed on the “admissions requirements” tab for the program must be received by the deadline. If all required documents are not received by the deadline, your application will not be considered for admission.
Follow these steps to complete the Georgia Southern application:
- Possess a valid, level four or higher Induction, Professional, Advanced Professional or Lead Professional teaching certificate.
- Present a 3.25 or higher GPA on all graduate work attempted.
- Complete Disclosure and Affirmation questions that address misconduct disclosure, criminal background check, the Code of Ethics for Educators and tort liability insurance.
Note: International transcripts must be evaluated by a NACES accredited evaluation service and must be a course by course evaluation and include a GPA.
