Eagle Nation on Parade

Where Art Takes Flight

Celebrate the spirit of Georgia Southern through Eagle Nation on Parade, a community-driven public art project featuring larger-than-life eagle sculptures designed by local artists. Showcasing creativity, campus pride and the unity of Statesboro, each eagle represents a unique story and helps support student scholarships, research and regional culture.

What Is Eagle Nation on Parade?

Eagle Nation on Parade is a public art project presented by Georgia Southern University. This creative initiative honors university traditions, strengthens the bond between campus and community, enhances Statesboro’s economic vitality, and supports student scholarships and research.

Imagine a collection of larger-than-life fiberglass eagle sculptures—each 6′ x 5′ x 4″—designed and painted by artists and placed on long-term public display. While every eagle shares the same landing pose, each one features a unique design, transforming the community into a vibrant outdoor art gallery.

The eagle form, sculpted in a landing position and perched on a chiseled rock, was created by Georgia Southern sculpture professor Marc Moulton and former student Daniel Todd. This ongoing project is proudly sponsored by the College of Arts and Humanities and the Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art.

How It Works

Inspired by successful public art initiatives like Chicago’s Cows on Parade, Sandy Springs’ Town Turtles, and Hawaii’s Geckos in Paradise, Eagle Nation on Parade invites Georgia-based artists to submit original design proposals tailored to the sponsor’s vision.

Once selected, artists receive a blank eagle sculpture and transform it into a one-of-a-kind artwork. These completed sculptures then return to Statesboro for an official Eagle Nation on Parade unveiling.

Experience the Parade

Visitors and locals can follow a curated Flight Path through Bulloch County to view the eagle sculptures and explore the best of what the area has to offer. Stay the weekend to Splash in the ‘Boro, enjoy local restaurants, shop downtown, take in a show at the Averitt Center for the Arts, and relax in one of our comfortable hotels.

With new eagles revealed regularly, Eagle Nation on Parade continues to attract repeat visitors and grow community pride.
