Azell Francis (’14), the Georgia Southern University Student Government Association (SGA) president, has been awarded the 2015 Regent Willis J. Potts Student Advisory Council Leadership Award.

The Herty Advanced Materials Development Center (AMDC), an applied research center of Georgia Southern University, is pleased to announce that it is a founding member of a new national research institute created under the National Network for Manufacturing Innovation (NNMI).

University Announces $8,000 Grant from Governor’s Office

“We are excited about the receipt of this grant because it allows us to continue educating students on the dangers of distracted and impaired driving,” said Nicole Withers, administrative coordinator for the Office of Alcohol and Other Drugs Programs at Georgia Southern. “We will be able to continue our efforts to keep the student body, community and other drivers safe as we encourage them to steer away from destructive decisions.”

Professor Published in Prestigious British Medical Journal

“This is the first time in Georgia Southern’s 108 years of history that someone from our University has had a manuscript published in The Lancet,” said Isaac Chun Hai Fung, Ph.D., professor. “This accomplishment reflects that the research direction my collaborators and I are taking is attracting attention from top medical journals.”

Georgia Southern University President Named Among 100 ‘Most Influential’ Georgians

“It is an honor to be on the list of the 100 Most Influential Georgians for 2015,” said Keel. “I have had the opportunity to work alongside some of the other Influential Georgians such as Gov. University’s Student Sustainability Fee Funds $198K in Sustainability Projects

The Sustainability Fee committee received 25 proposals requesting $725,836 and funded 11 of these proposals for $198,997. Fifteen academic departments in six colleges, as well as the Garden of the Coastal Plain, Campus Recreation and Intramurals, and the Division of Facilities Services submitted proposals.

Best and Brightest High School Seniors Attend 10th Annual Southern Scholars Showcase

“This event was intended to help prospective students decide if Georgia Southern is the right fit for them,” said Amy Smith, director for the Office of Admissions. “Prospective students were able to interact with current students, faculty, and staff throughout the weekend and ask many questions. Additionally, some students were offered valuable scholarship dollars to help offset the cost of attendance.​ Scholarships can range from one-time $500 awards to four-year renewable full tuition awards.”

MBA Global Business Strategy Team Finishes in Top 4 Percent of Business Simulation Program

University Receives Accreditation for Doctor of Psychology Program

“The Psychology Department’s achievement of accreditation for the Psy.D program provides the program and the Department with significant national recognition,” said Jean Bartels, Ph.D., provost and vice president for Academic Affairs. “This prestigious accreditation will provide current and future students with the assurance that their program is of the highest quality and has recognition which will open doors for internships and employment after graduation.”
