Few Civil War battlefield sites relating to Gen. William T. Sherman’s march through Georgia have been investigated archaeologically or preserved, but Georgia Southern University anthropology professor Ryan McNutt, Ph.D., is hoping to change that by leading a project that will uncover and preserve two skirmish sites in Jenkins and Burke counties.

The Association for the Advancement of Young Scientists, an organization founded by Georgia Southern University senior chemistry major Chelsea Miller, will host the first annual Coastal Georgia Reverse Science Fair on April 11 at the Southwest Chatham Library in Savannah. Georgia Southern researchers receive major grant, aim to improve water quality monitoring on Georgia beaches

Three faculty members from Georgia Southern University will have their manuscript, “The Epidemiology of Pedestrian Fatalities and Substance Use in Georgia, United States, 2007-2016” published in the journal Accident Analysis and Prevention.
Research by McKinley Thomas, E.D., and TimMarie Williams, Ph.D., from the Department of Health Sciences and Kinesiology, along with Jeffery Jones, Ph.D., from the Department of Health Policy and Community Health, explores the epidemiology of pedestrian fatalities over a 10-year period with an emphasis on reported substance use among cases.
