Georgia Southern professor teams up to lead workshop on plastic pollution in Vietnam
Georgia Southern University Professor of Biology Lissa Leege, Ph.D., was part of a team that recently led a workshop in Vietnam on the negative effects plastic pollution has on the ocean. Georgia Southern presents ‘Our Lost Years’ screening, Q&A at annual Mark Finlay Memorial Lecture on Sept. 26
This year’s Mark Finlay Memorial Lecture, hosted by the College of Arts and Humanities at Georgia Southern University, will be held on Sept. 26. Mr. Lane Nishikawa, director and producer of the film, “Our Lost Years,” will introduce the film’s screening, which will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the Armstrong Center Auditorium on the Armstrong Campus. The event is free and open to the public with a Q&A and reception to follow.

“On the Verge” concert series makes Armstrong Campus debut
Georgia Southern University’s On the Verge concert series devoted to contemporary art music, will feature The Bold City Contemporary Ensemble, on Sept. 10 at 7:30 p.m. on the Armstrong Campus in Savannah in the Fine Arts Auditorium. From Aug. 1, 2018 to July 31, 2019, Georgia Southern University students performed 46,415 community service hours. The hours had an estimated monetary impact of $932,104.

A new report shows Georgia Southern University has increased its annual economic impact of more than $1 billion on the region it serves. The report, released by the University System of Georgia, says Georgia Southern is a significant part of the system’s $17.7 billion economic impact on the state of Georgia in FY 2018.
