
Georgia Southern’s Office of Orientation and Parent Programs will host the annual Fall Family Weekend, a weekend of school spirit and family bonding, Sept. 18 -20.

Georgia Southern University’s 42nd annual A Day for Southern fundraising campaign has raised $2,335,990. This marks the third straight year the campaign has raised more than $2 million and broken the prior year’s record.

Gifts to the campaign not only support the campus community, but also enhance the longstanding and positive impact Georgia Southern has made on the Statesboro and greater Bulloch County community.

Patti Solis Doyle, political organizer and campaign strategist, will share her thoughts on “Shaping the Future of Hispanics in the U.S.” in honor of Hispanic Heritage month. The Multicultural Student Center at Georgia Southern will host Doyle on Wed., Sept. 16, at 7 p.m. in University’s Russell Union Ballroom.

Georgia Southern’s Office of Public Safety is the first public safety force in Bulloch County to incorporate body cameras and in-car recording systems into the daily work of its officers. The University has equipped each of the Police Department’s 34 patrol officers with body cameras and four marked patrol cars with video equipment.

Georgia Southern’s 2015-2016 visual art scholarship and award recipients in the Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art (BFSDoArt) will showcase their work in the “Ovation,” exhibit at the Blick Gallery in Savannah, Georgia. The exhibit, open to the public, is on display Saturday, Sept. 5, through Thursday, Oct. 1.
This fall, Georgia Southern University’s Division of Continuing Education is offering career-building certified fiber optic technician and specialist fast-track courses at the Coastal Georgia Center, in Savannah, Georgia. Participants are provided the option to take two or three fiber optics courses during the weeklong training.
