Double Eagle Christina Cook (’13,’19) has assisted Nandi Marshall, DrPH, associate professor in the Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health and associate dean of Academic Affairs, on the groundbreaking Savannah H.O.P.E. Photovoice Project, a visual, community-based research project that helps identify social, cultural and physical barriers that Black mothers in Chatham County face while breastfeeding. Cook has taken pride in helping others amplify their voices. In turn, she found her own.

John Banter wins award from Association of Leadership Education
John Banter, Ed.D., associate director of the Office of Leadership and Community Engagement, recently won the Robin Orr Outstanding Practitioner Award from the Association of Leadership Educators (ALE). Given annually during the ALE national conference, this award recognizes a distinguished practitioner for their significant accomplishments and contributions to leadership education and related fields. The award is named in memory of Robin Orr, a longtime member and past president of the ALE.

Georgia Southern’s STEM outreach unit has new name
The Center for STEM Education (i2STEMed) is the new moniker for the College of Education’s Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics education outreach unit. Previously known as the Institute for Interdisciplinary STEM Education (i2STEMe), the Center has expanded partnerships over the last nine years to include local, state and international organizations.
