
Each May, individuals are encouraged to celebrate National Military Appreciation Month in a symbol of unity. Throughout the month, the Office of Military & Veteran Services at Georgia Southern University will honor active and former members of the Armed Forces, as well as their dependents and spouses, who are part of the Eagle Nation family.

Ambitious student research collaborations with faculty members often lead to much more than good grades. The mentorships encourage professional growth, confidence and creativity, even in the midst of a pandemic. Georgia Southern University’s Spring 2021 Honors Research Symposium, which is being held virtually April 26 through April 30, will showcase faculty-student partnerships through a broad range of scholarly and creative research projects produced by over 100 honors students across multiple disciplines on the Statesboro and Armstrong campuses.

Twelve Georgia Southern students who make up the University’s competitive Clay Target Team won the first national championship contest they have ever competed in as a team during the 2021 Association of College Unions International (ACUI) Collegiate Clay Targets Championships in March.

Georgia Southern University professor of biology and immunology expert, Traci Ness, Ph.D., will host a presentation and virtual Q&A session titled, “COVID Vaccines Unmasked: Questions and Answers from an Immunologist,” on the coronavirus vaccines. Yelena Tarasenko, DrPH, an associate professor in the Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Environmental Health Sciences in Georgia Southern’s Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health, is one of four awardees of a 2020 Yamagiwa-Yoshida Memorial International Cancer Study Grant by the Union for International Cancer Control. Jessica Forsee’s professional goal has always been to make history available to as many people as possible.
