Eagle MFA students display diversity in work through Armstrong Campus exhibit
“Outlook: An MFA Showcase” is an exhibition of work by current MFA students at Georgia Southern that is open now through Sept. 9 at the Fine Arts Gallery in Fine Arts Hall on the Armstrong Campus in Savannah. The exhibition features work ranging from physics-inspired and ecology-inspired painting to identity-focused video, from traditional to experimental ceramics, drawing, photography, paper quilling and 2D sculpture.

The study updates research conducted by Georgia Southern professor Jian Zhang, M.D., 10 years ago, in which Georgia Southern students reported that what women saw in the mirror, not the number on the scale, influenced their mood. A woman who had a healthy weight but was wrongly self-perceived as being overweight was most likely to feel depressed.
Twelve startups selected in first batch of Savannah Logistics Innovation Center and Plug
and Play’s Accelerator Program
The Savannah Logistics Innovation Center (SLIC), a public-private partnership co-led by Georgia Southern University, and Plug and Play, a Silicon-Valley based venture capital firm and corporate innovation platform that recently located an office in Savannah, have chosen the first cohort of startup companies for their accelerator program.

The 20-year collaboration between Gretsch Guitars and Fender isn’t the only major affiliation Fred and Dinah Gretsch have to celebrate. In 2021, the Gretsches gave their support and name to the School of Music at Georgia Southern University.
On August 17, the Gretsches got a behind-the-scenes tour of how their partnership with Georgia Southern has impacted both the local community and the student body.

Graduates from the Class of 2021 — including those from Georgia Southern University — will earn over $1 million more during their lifetimes than they would have without going to college, and earning their bachelor’s degree, according to a new University System of Georgia study.
Georgia Southern arts alumni return to campus to inspire next generation of Eagles
“Continuum: Biennial Alumni Exhibition” is presented by the Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art (BFSDoArt) at Georgia Southern University, and runs from Aug. 10 to Sept. 14 in the Contemporary and University galleries of the Center for Art & Theatre in Statesboro. A reception will be held Friday, Sept. 2, from 5 to7 p.m. The events are free, and the public is welcome.
